A wide range of snap-on attachments for the Vortex-Genie® 2 and Vortex-Genie® 2T greatly expands these units™ usability. Each attachment is designed to produce its own unique mixing action, allowing the operator to choose the correct mixing action for any application. These attachments are made in various shapes and sizes and of various materials to accommodate almost all common tubes and containers.

The Vortex-Genie 2T offers all the same features as the Vortex-Genie 2, including variable speed control, (which provides a range of operation from slow-speed shaking up to high-speed vortexing), and a multiple-position power switch that allows the operator to choose Touch On control or the Hands-Free continuous operation of the switch-activated start/stop mode. The Vortex-Genie 2T adds an integral timer: 1 to 60 seconds in the Touch On mode, 1 to 60 minutes in the Hands-Free mode. Action shuts off automatically after a set time in both modes. Unit can also be set to run continuously. Vortexing time is constant, with an accuracy of ±5% and a ±1% repeatability.

The Disruptor Genie Cell Disrupter is ideal for any application that requires extremely violent high-speed agitation, such as difficult glass bead procedures, cell disruptions or homogenizations of yeast cells, bacteria, plant and animal tissue. The multidirectional action agitates and vortexes simultaneously at high speed, producing greater yields in less time. The Disrupter Genie is simple to use. Just set the auto-off timer from 0 to 15 minutes, or set it to run continuously. The single high-speed agitation eliminates operator variability.
Accommodates up to twelve 1.5mL snap-top microcentrifuge tubes. An optional holder accepts twelve 2.0mL screw top microcentrifuge tubes (see above). Or remove the microtube holder and snap on the Pop-Off Cup (included) for the high-speed vortexing of single test tubes. Enhance the performance of the unit with the use of soda-lime glass Disruptor Beads (sold separately). The Disruptor Genie is suitable for cold room or incubator use. The MicroPlate Genie combines a very small 1.0mm vortexing orbital motion with an aggressive mixing speed from 750 to 3200rpm to completely and uniformly mix samples in any microplate format, whatever the sample viscosity may be. This design achieves true vortexing action for complete mixing in each well of a microplate, even in 384-well formats.
The MicroPlate Genie accepts any type of skirted microplate with a footprint recommended by the Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS), regardless of number of wells, well height, or material of construction. The integral timer allows timed operations from one to 60 minutes, or the mixer can be run continuously. Dimensions: 5-3/4D x 7W x 6-1/2H (150 x 180 x 165mm). Weight: 6.1 lbs (2.75kg). Power: 120V. Disruptor Beads allow for the optimal disruption of cells when using Genie shakers. They are available in a 0.1mm diameter size, intended for use with bacteria, or a 0.5mm diameter size for use with yeast and fungi. The durable, lead-free beads can be cleaned with detergents, moderate acid solutions or bleach, and they are also autoclavable. Disruptor Beads can also be frozen if needed. Beads are available in an 8-oz bottle.
